Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use as few as we can, and we do not use any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Here is the full picture.

Essential cookies

These are needed for the site to work and to keep it secure, so they do not need your consent. They do not track you around the web.

• WordPress: our website software may set a cookie if you use certain features, and it sets login cookies for our own team when they manage the site. As an ordinary visitor simply browsing, you will usually not pick up any WordPress cookies at all.
• Cloudflare: sets a security cookie that helps tell real visitors apart from bots and keeps the site protected.
• Your cookie choice: when you accept or decline analytics, we store a small cookie that remembers your choice, so we do not ask you again on every page.

Analytics cookies, only with your consent

If you click “Accept analytics” on our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. This sets a small number of Google cookies (for example one named _ga and one starting _ga_), which last up to about two years and help count visits and pages viewed. They do not identify you by name.

If you click “Decline”, or make no choice, these cookies are not set and no analytics are collected.

Videos and 3D tours

Some pages carry owner videos. We do not load these until you click play, so nothing from YouTube or Vimeo reaches your device simply by visiting the page. When you do click play, the video loads from YouTube or Vimeo and they may set their own cookies. We use their privacy-friendly players (YouTube’s no-cookie version, and Do Not Track on Vimeo) to keep this to a minimum.

Some lodge pages have a 3D tour from Matterport, a US company. It loads only when you tap to start it, so nothing from Matterport reaches your device simply by visiting the page. Once you start it, Matterport says it sets no cookies for visitors, but it stores your viewing settings on your device, its security provider may set a short-lived bot-protection cookie, and it collects technical details such as your browser, screen size and approximate location.

Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie choices” link in the footer of every page, which reopens the banner so you can accept or decline. You can also clear this site’s cookies or block them in your browser settings. To opt out of Google Analytics on every website, Google offers a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
